U.S.'s Josh Sargent out for Werder Bremen until January with injury

ESPN FC's Brian McBride says Josh Sargent's ability to refocus after being left of the Gold Cup squad is the reason his future is bright.

United States international Josh Sargent will be out until January with a hamstring injury, his club, Werder Bremen, has announced.

Sargent, 19, picked up the injury in the U.S.'s 4-0 victory over Cuba in CONCACAF Nations League play last month, according to a team release.

After playing the full 90 minutes against Cuba, he came on as a substitute in Werder Bremen's match against Wolfsburg on Dec. 1, but complained about the pain in the subsequent training session.

Morris leads U.S. to top of Nations League group with 8/10 showing against Cuba

The United States men's national team close the year with a 4-0 win over Cuba in the CONCACAF Nations League.

Following the win over Canada on Friday in Orlando, the United States men's national team saw off Cuba 4-0 in the Cayman Islands to secure first place in Group A1 in the Nations League. The win against a poor opponent -- which earned the Americans a spot in the Nations League semis -- was mostly about avoiding a letdown and proving an ability to put weak competition to the sword.

The Americans never broke a sweat, going up a goal in the first minute and generally controlling proceedings...

Josh Sargent calls next on United States striker of the future role

Weston McKennie was relentless vs. Cuba, scoring three times in the first 13 minutes in a 7-0 win.
Alejandro Moreno says the USMNT need to play better teams to get an accurate evaluation of their potential.
Gregg Berhalter explains why he played Christian Pulisic in multiple positions in the USMNT's win vs. Cuba.
Craig Burley says Sergino Dest has to pick the Netherlands over the U.S. if he backs himself as a top talent.

WASHINGTON -- In Friday night's 7-0 victory against Cuba to open the United States' CONCACAF Nations League campaign, Josh Sargent earned his 10th cap. He became just the 10th male American teenager to do so, joining a list of U.S. soccer luminaries including Landon Donovan, DaMarcus Beasley and Christian Pulisic, as well as a few players who had, shall we say, slightly less decorated careers (Juan Agudelo and, yes, Freddy Adu).

Sargent's career remains in the early stages. That's the whole point,...

United States to start Josh Sargent in CONCACAF Nations League vs. Cuba

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The future is now for the United States' forward-in-waiting Josh Sargent.

"Josh [Sargent] will start the game tomorrow so he has a great opportunity," head coach Gregg Berhalter said during a Thursday afternoon news conference ahead of Friday's CONCACAF Nations League opener against Cuba at Audi Field. "It will be nice to see how he can perform tomorrow in the context of the team performance."

Klinsmann: U.S. has 'an exciting group of players emerging' in Pulisic, Adams, Sargent

Former U.S. men's national team boss Jurgen Klinsmann said there is "an exciting group of players emerging" for the U.S., and that he hopes manager Gregg Berhalter is given a chance to grow the program.

Speaking to ESPN's Herculez Gomez in the wake of ESPN securing the U.S. broadcast rights to the Bundesliga, Klinsmann stated that he likes what he sees from the current crop of players, several of whom are playing in Europe.

"You know you look at Tyler Adams, you look at obviously Christian Pulisic,"...
