Spezia announce signing of free agent Alberto Gilardino

Alberto Gilardino spent the second half of the 2016-17 season with Pescara.

Alberto Gilardino has found himself a new club by joining Spezia Calcio, the Italian Serie B club announced on their website on Tuesday.

The 35-year-old forward, who won the World Cup with Italy in 2006, had been linked with a move to Crystal Palace, among other clubs, since being released by Pescara in the summer.

Napoli had also been reported to be interested when Arkadiusz Milik tore his knee ligaments last month, but Gilardino has instead agreed to join the Italian second division outfit.

Alberto Gilardino completes move to Empoli from Palermo

Alberto Gilardino said it was not his decision to leave Palermo.

Empoli have announced the signing of Alberto Gilardino from Palermo.

Former AC Milan and Fiorentina striker Gilardino, 34, has signed a two-year contract with the Serie A club.

A statement on Empoli's official website read: "Empoli announces that it has acquired outright the player Alberto Gilardino. The attacker has signed a contract until 30 June 2018."

Gilardino had joined Palermo from Guangzhou Evergrande last year and scored 10 goals to help the club avoid relegation.

Alberto Gilardino returns to Fiorentina on loan from Guangzhou Evergrande

Fiorentina have completed the loan signing of Alberto Gilardino from Guangzhou Evergrande, bringing back the striker who scored 59 goals for the club between 2008 and 2012.

Gilardino, 32, has signed a short-term contract with Vincenzo Montella's side running until the end of the season, with an option to then make the move permanent in the summer.

Alberto Gilardino is among the top 15 goalscorers of all time in Serie A.

Genoa striker Alberto Gilardino has announced he has accepted an offer to join Chinese club Guangzhou Evergrande after 14 seasons playing in Serie A.
