Donnarumma and Lafont should be targets if PSG covet new goalkeeper

Paris Saint-Germain's Alphonse Areola has told TF1's Telefoot that the French capital outfit informed him before the end of last season that they intend to sign a new goalkeeper this summer.

The 24-year-old experienced a turbulent first full senior campaign at Parc des Princes and after waiting to dislodge Kevin Trapp as coach Unai Emery's first choice, the former France under-21 international then lost his place after a combination of individual errors and poor collective displays.

In the France squad that faced Spain on Tuesday evening at the Stade de France, 15 players are currently playing in Ligue 1, the most Didier Deschamps has ever picked. Fifteen of them are 25 or younger. It is the youngest squad called up by the manager since he took charge of the team in the summer of 2012. At an average age of 24, it's also one of the youngest squads in the country's long history.

When Sinisa Mihajlovic decided to promote Gianluigi Donnarumma to AC Milan's starting lineup in October 2015, he gave inspiration to one of his colleagues as well. The Italian prodigy was the youngest ever goalkeeper to start a game in Serie A at the age of 16 years and eight months.
