Nigeria's Nwakali finally has his permanent move, but must make it count

Arguably the best Nigerian transfer of the offseason was the one that happened just before the European deadline, and went almost unnoticed.

Kelechi Nwakali's early September move from Arsenal to SD Huesca in the Spanish second tier was, again arguably given he's not made his debut, the move with the most benefit to the player, and thus the Super Eagles.

Since joining Arsenal in 2016, Nwakali was shunted from pillar to post every season, to different middling clubs. From MVV Maastricht,...

Arsenal's Kelechi Nwakali joins Porto on season-long loan deal

Arsenal midfielder Kelechi Nwakali will spend a third straight season on loan after joining FC Porto for the new campaign.

Nwakali, 20, has yet to appear for the Gunners since signing in summer 2016 following a standout campaign at the Under-17 World Cup for Nigeria, where he was named Player of the Tournament.

He has spent the last two seasons playing for MVV Maastricht and VVV Venlo in the Netherlands.

"Kelechi now heads to Portugal and we wish him all the best for his season with Porto," an...

Arsenal's Kelechi Nwakali joins VVV-Venlo on loan for season

Kelechi Nwakali joined Arsenal in the summer of 2016.

Arsenal have sent teenage midfielder Kelechi Nwakali on loan to Dutch club VVV-Venlo for the season.

He helped lead Nigeria to the Under-17 World Cup in Chile in 2015, being named the best player of the tournament.

An Arsenal statement said: "We wish Kelechi well for his upcoming season in Holland."

Meanwhile, the Gunners have...

Arsenal's Kelechi Nwakali joins MVV Maastricht on loan for season

Kelechi Nwakali joined Arsenal in the summer.

Arsenal have loaned teenager Kelechi Nwakali to MVV Maastricht for the rest of the season.

Nwakali, 18, signed a five-year deal with the Gunners in the summer, joining from the Diamond Football Academy in Nigeria.

However, Arsenal have opted to temporarily ship out the midfielder, who has been granted a Dutch work permit, in order to gain some regular first-team football.

Nwakali will link up with fellow Gunner Stefan O'Connor, who is also out on loan at the Eerste Divisie side.
