Monaco acquire Germany defender Benjamin Henrichs from Bayer Leverkusen

Monaco have acquired full-back Benjamin Henrichs from Bayer Leverkusen, the club announced on Tuesday.

The 21-year-old Germany international will join the 2016-17 Ligue 1 champions on a five-year deal.

"I am very proud to be involved with AS Monaco, a top European club for many years, and I will do everything I can to adapt quickly and help the team achieve many victories, with the staff and my new teammates," Henrichs told Monaco's website.

Germany must stop Chicharito to beat Mexico - Benjamin Henrichs

SOCHI, Russia -- Germany defender Benjamin Henrichs has warned that Die Mannschaft need to keep a close eye on his Bayer Leverkusen teammate Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez in Thursday's Confederations Cup semifinal against Mexico.

Benjamin Henrichs has made 36 appearances for Bayer Leverkusen this season.

Benjamin Henrichs has agreed a two-year contract extension that will keep him with Bayer Leverkusen through the 2021-22 season, the club announced on Wednesday.

The 20-year-old defender joined first joined Leverkusen's Under-8 team in 2005. He was selected by Joachim Low for Germany's World Cup qualifier against San Marino on Nov. 11 and was included in the Confederations Cup squad announced on Wednesday.
