Bakayoko's carelessness, sending off set Chelsea up for defeat at Watford

Watford scored three goals after a late Chelsea equalizer to surge past the 10-man Blues and pile more pressure on Antonio Conte.
After Chelsea's resounding loss at Watford, the FC crew assess what's going wrong for Antonio Conte and how much longer he can go on at Stamford Bridge.
Antonio Conte shows his frustration following Chelsea's defeat against Watford, admitting his starting XI choices were very poor.

Chelsea's miserable start to 2018 continued with a limp 4-1 Premier League defeat at Watford on Monday night.

The visitors never got going, with the home side displaying far more energy and desire from the first whistle. Richarlison was causing problems for the Blues, but it was one of their own, Tiemoue Bakayoko, who was their biggest threat. The Frenchman couldn't put a foot right, and his sending off after 30 minutes, although exceptionally harsh, removed him from further humiliation. Referee...

Tiemoue Bakayoko, Gary Cahill wilt under Bournemouth's second-half pressure

After another Premier League loss, the ESPN FC panel sort out who's to blame for Chelsea's disastrous title defense.

Chelsea were left reeling at Stamford Bridge as Bournemouth rocked to a 3-0 win thanks to a 15-minute second-half salvo of goals from Callum Wilson, Junior Stanislas and Nathan Ake.

The Blues saw plenty of the ball in the first half but failed to take their chances and squandered possession all to easily after the break allowing the Cherries to seize the initiative and stun Antonio Conte's shell-shocked side into submission.

Antonio Rudiger, Ross Barkley struggle in Carabao Cup defeat to Arsenal

Granit Xhaka's second-half winner against Chelsea sends Arsenal through to their eighth League Cup final.
After Chelsea's Carabao Cup loss to Arsenal, the FC panel all agree that the Blues are missing a quality striker to give them direction. Gab Marcotti reports on the latest surrounding their interest in Edin Dzeko.
Antonio Conte admits his hand was forced when he handed Ross Barkley his Chelsea debut during the Carabao Cup semi-final defeat to Arsenal.

Chelsea failed in their bid to reach the Carabao Cup Final, losing 2-1 to Arsenal at the Emirates in the second leg of a semi-final tie which was evenly balanced at the outset following the scoreless first leg draw at Stamford Bridge a fortnight ago.

Eden Hazard opened the scoring for the Blues, but despite a bright start they could only hold onto their lead for five minutes before a pinball-style sequence of headers following an Arsenal corner saw the ball clip last off Antonio Rudiger and past...

Eden Hazard stars, Tiemoue Bakayoko silences his critics in Chelsea rout

With the Premier League all but done and a difficult Champions League draw with Barcelona, the FC panel discuss how Chelsea can stay in top form for the rest of the season.

Chelsea cruised to a comfortable 3-1 victory over Huddersfield Town at a rainswept John Smith's Stadium. The Blues dominated possession throughout the contest, and the result was never in doubt from the moment Tiemoue Bakayoko's deflected shot beat Terriers 'keeper Jonas Lossl midway through the first half. Willian doubled the London club's lead with a headed goal just before the break and Pedro wrapped up the points with a fine shot from the edge of the box five minutes after the...

N'Golo Kante 8/10 lone bright spot for lethargic Chelsea in loss to West Ham

Gary Cahill did not hold back his disappointment following Chelsea's poor result against West Ham.

Chelsea saw the last embers of their title defence burn out as they lost 1-0 to West Ham at the London Stadium.

The early kickoff seemed to catch Chelsea half asleep as the home side showed much more desire in the opening stages. Some dozy defending from the visitors allowed Marko Arnautovic to find space in the penalty area after six minutes and he slipped the ball past Thibaut Courtois for the game's only goal. When Chelsea conceded early last week against Newcastle, it prompted a powerful...

Chelsea must avoid complacency and take their chances against West Ham

Craig Burley explains what Tiemoue Bakayoko must improve to earn a place within Antonio Conte's starting XI.
Craig Burley explains what Tiemoue Bakayoko must improve to earn a place within Antonio Conte's starting XI.

Chelsea and West Ham United kick off the weekend's round of Premier League fixtures with what has the potential to be a feisty Saturday lunchtime derby at the London Stadium.

The Blues, in a rich vein of domestic form, have won six of their past seven top-flight games and victory against the Hammers would pull them level on points with second-place Manchester United, who host table-topping neighbours Man City the following day. By stark contrast, West Ham, one point off the basement, are entrenched...
