Emmanuel Boateng scored twice to lead LA Galaxy past Real Salt Lake and into the Western Conference semifinals.

LA Galaxy forward Landon Donovan has compared the first of Emmanuel Boateng's two strikes against Real Salt Lake to that of a goal Lionel Messi would score.

Boateng scored twice for Galaxy as they won 3-1 on Wednesday to advance to the MLS Western Conference semifinals.

Alan Gordon's opener for Galaxy was cancelled out by a Joao Plata penalty, before Boateng went on to hit two goals in eight minutes to secure the victory for his side, with his first strike, in which he weaved his way past a number...

Emmanuel Boateng scored twice, and Alan Gordon added a goal and two assists to lead the Galaxy to victory. Real Salt Lake's Joao Plata momentarily leveled matters with a first-half penalty, but the Galaxy were soon back on top, and overall, they were too much for RSL on the night.

Here are three thoughts on LA's triumph:

1. Boateng, Gordon torment RSL
