Russia's Roman Zobnin delivers man-of-the-match showing that lifts hosts past Egypt

Russia have all but qualified for the knockout stages of the World Cup for the first time in their history after producing an impressive 3-1 victory over Egypt, leaving the Pharaohs just theoretical chances to stay in the tournament after the group stage.

It was a brilliant all-around performance by the Russian team. It looked like a united unit, with players leaving their all on the pitch. Russia never stopped pressing even after going three up. That was something Egypt, who had no...

Russia's four World Cup players to watch: Golovin, Zobnin, Kuzyaev, Miranchuk

World Cup hosts Russia are approaching the tournament in the wake of some truly shambolic preparations.

The 23-year-old Zobnin has started Russia's last seven games and was a key player in Spartak Moscow's run to the Russian league...

Marouane Fellaini headed home the winner for Belgium.

Belgium edged Czech Republic 2-1 in a friendly on Monday, with Michy Batshuayi and Marouane Fellaini scoring to make up for a defensive howler from Kevin De Bruyne.

Batshuayi, whose goal for Chelsea sealed the Premier League title last month, highlighted his fine form with a low drive across goal to open the score in the 25th minute.

But four minutes later, De Bruyne was stripped of possession in his own box by Ladislav Krejci, who passed across for Michael Krmencik to equalise past Thibaut...
