Jamie Maclaren hits hat trick as Socceroos thrash Nepal

Game Details

The Socceroos attack is starting to click under coach Graham Arnold after they thrashed Nepal 5-0.

Australia had all the possession and territory, creating countless chances but struggled to finish against the team ranked 161 in the world.

The Socceroos were never challenged and dominated from start to finish against the Group B minnows as Jamie Maclaren scored his first international hat trick.

Maclaren had scored just one goal in 13 appearances leading into the game but showed his class in front...

Melbourne City set to sign Jamie Maclaren, keep unsettled Bruno Fornaroli

Wantaway striker Bruno Fornaroli appears certain to be marooned at Melbourne City beyond Thursday's transfer deadline with no softening of the A-League club stance towards the Uruguayan.

Though Socceroos striker Jamie Maclaren is likely to sign in the next 24 hours and City hopeful of another attacker joining him, Fornaroli's path back to the first team appears in rubble.

And there's no likely exit route for the goal machine, deemed surplus to requirements by coach Warren Joyce as the English boss...

Apostolos Giannou, Jamie Maclaren ready to rival Andrew Nabbout for Australia's striker spot

For a team tipped to struggle for goals, Australia's strikers showed their worth against Palestine in Dubai on Friday.

While Andrew Nabbout has yet to feature in the Socceroos two group matches, both Jamie Maclaren and Apostolos Giannou were on the scoresheet in the 3-0 Asian Cup victory.

With Tomi Juric overlooked by coach Graham Arnold, Martin Boyle ruled out pre-tournament with injury and Mat Leckie still recovering from a torn hamstring, Australia's options up front looked slim heading into...

Jamie Maclaren returns to Suncorp Stadium looking to break Socceroos duck

If anywhere looms as the venue for Jamie Maclaren to notch his first Socceroos goal then Brisbane's Suncorp Stadium is surely the most fitting.

The 25-year-old enjoyed two goal-laden A-League campaigns at the Brisbane Roar, notching 42 goals in 59 appearances in all competitions including many at the Queensland venue.

Yet to hit the back of the net for the national team in six appearances, Maclaren admits it's nice to be back on familiar territory ahead of Saturday's friendly against South Korea.

Jamie Maclaren's late call-up has Socceroos fighting for places - Andrew Nabbout

Andrew Nabbout welcomes the extra competition for a Socceroos World Cup berth provided by Jamie Maclaren's late call-up.

Maclaren was sunning himself on the beach in Dubai's artificial Palm Islands when summoned into the pre-tournament camp in Turkey as cover for Tomi Juric, who is nursing a knee injury and could yet be ruled out of contention for Russia.

With Tim Cahill considered a lock for Australia's 23-man squad, it means Juric and Maclaren are now jostling with attacking utilities Nabbout...
