Marcel Schmelzer, defence let Roman Burki, Dortmund down vs. Bayern

Bayern Munich deservedly moved on to the round of eight of the DFP-Pokal, dismantling Borussia Dortmund 2-1 at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday night.

The hosts dominantly showed the gulf in class between them and Dortmund in the first half and why there is currently a 13-point gap in the league between the two Bundesliga teams.

Though, FCB were wasteful early on, as chances came thick and fast against the bodiless visitors. Centre-back Jerome Boateng headed home a rebound in the 12th minute after...

Dortmund salvage a point and Burki stars, but winless streak reaches seven

Borussia Dortmund's winless streak extended to seven games and, with two more points dropped, they find themselves in sixth place after 14 match days and losing further ground on the Champions League spots. To add injury to insult, Peter Bosz was forced to make two substitutions in the first half: Striker Maximilian Philipp picked up a knee injury and midfielder Gonzalo Castro rolled his ankle after a foul by Wendell.

Positives

After Wendell was sent off in the 41st minute, the Black and Yellows...

Marc Bartra, Dortmund backline spatially unaware against Spurs

DORTMUND, Germany -- Borussia Dortmund's farewell tour in the UEFA Champions League extended to five winless games out of five in Group H as Tottenham Hotspur came from behind to win 2-1 at the Westfalenstadion on Tuesday night.

Overall, Dortmund have only one win out of their last nine games, which came against third-division Magdeburg in the DFB-Pokal. Chances are, the Black and Yellows will enter the Europa League without having won a single match in the Champions League group stage, which is...

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang isolated, defence collapses vs. Frankfurt

FRANKFURT, Germany -- Borussia Dortmund's lead at the top of the table melts away like a popsicle in the Sahara Desert, as they drew 2-2 away to Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday after throwing away a 2-0 lead. Bayern Munich can close the once five-point gap with a win against Hamburg.

Positives

The Westphalians had lost their last three matches away to the Eagles, so technically, this was an improvement.

Negatives

Nobody was quite sure how the guests were 1-0 up at half-time. Similar issues...

Dortmund give goalkeeper Roman Burki contract extension

Borussia Dortmund goalkeeper Roman Burki has signed a contract extension until 2021, the Bundesliga league leaders announced on Friday.

Switzerland international Burki, 26, has made 68 Bundesliga appearances for BVB since his move from Freiburg in 2015.

"Roman fits in excellently at Borussia Dortmund, both on a sporting level and as a person," sporting director Michael Zorc said.

Burki played in Thomas Tuchel's DFB Pokal winning side in May, but has been criticised for his performances in this season's...

Roman Burki, Dortmund come up short at APOEL in costly draw

Borussia Dortmund can wave their hopes to qualify for the round of 16 of the Champions League goodbye after a disastrous performance away to APOEL. A 1-1 draw in Nicosia means that the Black and Yellows only have theoretical chances to catch one of Real Madrid or Tottenham but after Matchday 3 in the Champions League there is nothing to suggest that they would deserve to be among Europe's best 16 teams.

On Tuesday night, there was nothing left of a Dortmund team that has regularly steamrolled...
