There were 893 days between Abdul Rahman Baba's last Africa Cup of Nations performance for Ghana -- against Uganda in January 2017 -- and his return to action in the tournament on Saturday.

Ghana's Abdul Rahman Baba is hoping his injury nightmare is finally behind him and that he can repay Schalke 04 for the faith they've shown in him.

Rahman, 23, made 21 appearances for Schalke last season before his campaign was cut short by a cruciate ligament injury while in action for Ghana at the African Nations Cup in January.

And Heidel said any move could depend on when Rahman is fit to return to action.

"We are in talks with the player, his agent and Chelsea," Heidel told Schalke's official website.

"Ultimately, it is about when Baba will...

Injury could scupper Schalke plan to extend Baba Rahman loan

Baba Rahman made 21 appearances for Schalke before his injury.

Schalke have said plans to extend defender Baba Rahman's loan from Chelsea will depend on his recovery from the knee injury that has kept him out since January.

Ghana international Rahman spent last season on loan at the Bundesliga side, but has been out of action since he was injured at the African Nations Cup.

The left-back made 21 appearances for the Royal Blues before suffering an anterior cruciate ligament tear.
