Spain call up Athletic Bilbao's Aritz Aduriz to replace injured Alvaro Morata

Mark Ogden chats with Alison Bender outside Stamford Bridge after Manchester City's convincing 1-0 victory over Chelsea.

Spain will be without Chelsea's Alvaro Morata, Barcelona's Andres Iniesta and Real Madrid's Dani Carvajal for their final two World Cup qualifiers against Albania and Israel.

Morata and Iniesta suffered muscular injuries while playing for their clubs over the weekend, while Carvajal has been sidelined with a heart problem.

Spain said an MRI revealed a "Grade II" hamstring injury, leading news outlets in England to speculate that he could miss six weeks of action for Chelsea.

Real Madrid defender Dani Carvajal ruled out with heart problem

Dani Carvajal has been ruled out of action with a heart problem, with Marca reporting that the Real Madrid defender could be out of action for up to six weeks.

Carvajal will not be in the Madrid squad to take on Espanyol at the Bernabeu on Sunday, with a club statement saying he "has been diagnosed with a viral pericardium infection."

The statement said the full-back's "recovery will continue to be assessed."

He has previously played every minute for Zinedine Zidane's side in La Liga this season,...

The FC crew assess Real Madrid's slow start to the season and the growing concerns surrounding the club.

Real Madrid defender Dani Carvajal has said "nobody doubts" Cristiano Ronaldo as he heads into his 400th game for the club on the back of a frustrating run of form.

Ronaldo has yet to score in La Liga this season, having missed the first four games through suspension and had 18 unsuccessful shots in the recent games against Real Betis and Alaves.

Madrid travel to Borussia Dortmund for a Champions League game on Tuesday -- Ronaldo's 400th game -- and speaking at the prematch news conference, Carvajal...

Borja Mayoral and Gareth Bale found the net for Real Madrid in an away victory over Real Sociedad.
The FC crew evaluate Real Madrid's win over Sociedad, including Gareth Bale's goal and the emergence of Borja Mayoral.

Dani Carvajal says he would be "delighted" to be Real Madrid captain in the future after signing a two-year contract extension on Monday.

The 25-year-old put pen to paper on his new deal on Monday afternoon, tying himself to Madrid until June 2022.

"I'm very grateful to the club," he told the club's website. "I couldn't be happier, it's another important day to remember in my life after extending my contract with the club that means the world to me, the club that has seen me grow. I've...

Pepe's farewell to Real Madrid was 'a little grey' - Dani Carvajal

Real Madrid defender Dani Carvajal has told Movistar+ it was a shame to see Pepe leave without a final game at the Bernabeu, adding that his farewell to the club had been "a little grey."

Pepe, 33, thanked teammates and supporters when he confirmed he would leave Madrid after a decade, but said he was unhappy with the way he was treated in his final months at the club.

The Portugal international joined from Porto in 2007 and had hoped to prolong his stay, but talks broke down earlier this year.

Real Madrid's greatest fitness concern is not Gareth Bale, but Dani Carvajal

Regardless his offensive credentials and his track record of scoring in top-level matches, Gareth Bale is not Real Madrid's biggest fitness concern for Saturday's Champions League final versus Juventus. The Welshman could well be a key element to keep Dani Alves in check, but if he can't recover for the duel, Zinedine Zidane's team have other satisfactory options to cover for Bale.

However, that is not necessarily the case if Dani Carvajal does not make the final in Cardiff. The energetic full-back...
