Corey Gameiro joins Central Coast Mariners after leaving Brisane Roar

Corey Gameiro
Corey Gameiro has suffered a series of injury setbacks.

Injury-plagued attacker Corey Gameiro has been thrown an A-League lifeline by the Central Coast Mariners.

The 25-year-old, released by Brisbane Roar last week, has signed on with the Mariners for next season.

It gives the one-time Fulham prospect another chance to get his promising career back on track, with his progress having been repeatedly hampered by fitness issues including three knee reconstructions.

"As an individual, I've been through adversity -- I think the club has gone through that...

John Aloisi assues now-fit Corey Gameiro: 'The goals will come'

A superb Eric Bautheac free kick was enough for Brisbane Roar to take all three points in a closely contested match with Adelaide United.

Corey Gameiro's A-League scoring drought will end soon if he continues getting into the right positions, Brisbane Roar coach John Aloisi says.

Gameiro's promising career has been wrecked by three knee reconstructions but he's shown flashes of his best in recent weeks as he hunts his first senior goal since scoring for Sydney FC in a 3-2 derby victory in October 2014.

Aloisi tipped the 25-year-old to torment a tired and depleted Sky Blues defence when he comes off the bench in Saturday's clash at...

Brama's horror tackle on Gameiro to be reviewed by A-League panel

Central Coast Mariners midfielder Wout Brama faces a nervous wait for the A-League match review panel to ponder his horrible tackle on Brisbane Roar forward Corey Gameiro.

Brama's studs flew into Gameiro's shin during stoppage-time of Saturday night's 2-1 win to the Roar in Gosford, causing the substitute's leg to twist unnaturally.

Controversially, referee Adam Kersey initially showed the Dutchman a yellow card before the video assistant upgraded it to red.

Gameiro, 24, who has undergone three knee...

Ex-Melbourne City striker Corey Gameiro joins Brisbane Roar

Corey Gameiro
Corey Gameiro's time at Melbourne City was cruelled by injury.

Ex-Melbourne City forward Corey Gameiro will attempt to resurrect his injury-hit A-League career at the Brisbane Roar.

Gameiro has signed for next season after missing City's 2016-17 campaign with an ACL injury, enduring his third knee reconstruction in four seasons.

He was axed by City in May and hasn't started a match since November 2015.

The 24-year-old Gameiro, a former Australian youth representative, has 33 A-League caps after also spending time at Wellington and Sydney FC.

Gameiro is expected...

Kuzmanovski, Gameiro, Colazo, Rose released by Melbourne City

Nicolas Colazo
Former Boca Juniors player Nicolas Colazo failed to shine in the A-League this season.

The off-season cull has begun at Melbourne City, with four players leaving the A-League club.

Sidelined pair Steve Kuzmanovski and Corey Gameiro -- who both missed the 2016-17 campaigns with ACL injuries will not see their contracts renewed.

Marquee winger Nicolas Colazo and veteran fullback Josh Rose have also reached the end of their playing deals and have left the club.

The decision...

Melbourne City's Corey Gameiro vows to return from ACL injury

Melbourne City midfielder Tim Cahill
Corey Gameiro will miss the 2016-17 A-League season after suffering another ACL injury.

Luckless Melbourne City winger Corey Gameiro has vowed to return from a third ACL rupture that will cost him the chance to play in the 2016-17 A-League season.

After completing the long comeback from a second injury to his left knee, Gameiro collapsed at training with City in Townsville this week after suffering the same issue with his right knee.

It's a hammer blow to the 23-year-old, who has played just 10 matches in the past two seasons in between the debilitating setbacks.
