Striker Tomer Hemed signs new deal to stay with Brighton

Tomer Hemed has committed his future to Brighton after helping the Seagulls get promoted to the Premier League.

Tomer Hemed has signed a new 18-month contract with Brighton.

The 30-year-old striker, who has scored twice so far for the Seagulls in their maiden Premier League season, has committed his future to the club until June 2019.

The Israel international arrived from Spanish side Almeria in June 2015 and was a key player as Brighton finished second in the Championship to win promotion in April.

Brighton striker Tomer Hemed banned for stamp on DeAndre Yedlin

Brighton striker Tomer Hemed has been banned for three matches after being found guilty of violent conduct in Sunday's home win over Newcastle.

Hemed, who scored the winner in a 1-0 Brighton victory, will serve a three-match ban after a retrospective violent conduct charge by the Football Association was found proven.

The Israel international was involved in a coming together with Newcastle's United States defender DeAndre Yedlin after 88 minutes, appearing to stamp on his leg.

Brighton's Tomer Hemed charged for stamp on DeAndre Yedlin

Brighton striker Tomer Hemed has been charged with violent conduct, the Football Association has announced.

Hemed fired the winner in Brighton's 1-0 Premier League victory over Newcastle on Sunday but he was involved in an 88th-minute tangle with Newcastle defender DeAndre Yedlin.

An FA statement read: "Tomer Hemed has been charged for an alleged act of violent conduct which was not seen by the match officials but caught on video.

"He has until 6 p.m. on Tuesday [26 September 2017] to respond to...

Chris Hughton has insisted that Brighton match-winner Tomer Hemed's stamp on DeAndre Yedlin was an accident.

Hemed's hooked strike sealed Brighton's 1-0 Premier League win over Newcastle, but the 30-year-old then courted controversy by stamping on U.S. international Yedlin in a late tangle.

Brighton boss Hughton watched a replay of the 89th-minute clash and claimed there was no malice in Hemed's stamp, that was missed by officials.
