Alonso signs new Chelsea deal until 2023

Alonso happy at Chelsea despite fans' criticism

Maurizio Sarri says Chelsea must be prepared if Eden Hazard leaves the club, and also addresses his own future.

Marcos Alonso has said he is happy to stay at Chelsea despite a "tough season" and added that he has not let fan criticism affect him.

Reports in recent months have linked Alonso, who signed a contract extension in October, with a return to Spain after he struggled to hold down a starting spot.

Alonso said he had found it tough to adapt to Maurizio Sarri's instructions at times but saw his future at Stamford Bridge despite becoming a target for criticism from sections of the fanbase.

Late goals from Cesar Azpilicueta and Ruben Loftus-Cheek keep Chelsea in the top four hunt with a win at Cardiff.

Eden Hazard, N'Golo Kante underwhelm as Chelsea well-beaten by rivals Arsenal

LONDON -- First-half goals from Alexandre Lacazette and Laurent Koscielny gave Arsenal a 2-0 victory over a woeful Chelsea at the Emirates to make the race for a top-four finish in the Premier League tighter than ever.

Chelsea could have lost by a lot more than two goals after a first-half performance without any redeeming features. If nothing else, however, this kind of emphatic defeat should provide Maurizio Sarri with the push he needs to shake up a stale and stagnant starting XI.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek takes his chance, Marcos Alonso exposed in Chelsea defeat

Chelsea suffered their second Premier League defeat of the season at the Molineux Stadium as goals from Raul Jimenez and Diogo Jota gave Wolves -- inspired by dazzling youngster Morgan Gibbs-White -- a first victory since early October.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Andreas Christensen took their first real Premier League opportunities, perhaps giving Maurizio Sarri more reason to trust them in the future, while the likes of Jorginho and David Luiz will at least be fresh for the visit of Manchester...
