Valencia president Anil Murthy has told Real Madrid that Rodrigo will only leave the club this summer if his €120 million release clause is met.

A reported target of several European clubs, the Spain international had a strong 2017-18 campaign at Valencia, scoring 16 goals and assisting four more in 37 league appearances.

Playing style

A versatile forward who can play through the middle or on either flank, Rodrigo has largely been deployed in a central role this season. Owing to his speed and technical ability,...

Valencia striker Rodrigo has voiced his support for the video assistant referees (VAR) system to be implemented in La Liga, while acknowledging that without the technology his team benefitted against Barcelona in Sunday's 1-1 draw.

Lionel Messi was not awarded a 30th-minute goal at the Mestalla stadium due to a lack of goal-line technology.

His shot after the half-hour mark was fumbled by Valencia goalkeeper Norberto Neto and TV replays showed the ball went over the line.

Rodrigo, whose goal was...
