Toulouse sign Giannelli Imbula on loan from Stoke City

Giannelli Imbula failed to live up to expectations at Stoke.

Ligue 1 club Toulouse have signed Giannelli Imbula on loan from Stoke City.

Stoke broke their transfer record when they signed Imbula, 24, from Porto in the winter transfer window in 2016, but the former Marseille midfielder did not match expectations and now returns to France.

He made just 28 appearances in all competitions for Stoke, starting just one competitive game in 2017.

Stoke boss Mark Hughes said at the end of last season: "It is fair to say with G it hasn't quite worked out as any...

Five African players desperately in need of a deadline-day move

These five African stars are desperate for an escape route from their current club, but will they get it before the window closes?

Islam Slimani had been tipped for a move to AS Monaco earlier this window, with the Algeria international a potential option for the Monegasques as they look to replace the goals that will be lost when Kylian Mbappe completes his exit to Paris Saint-Germain.

Rumours rated: Neymar to PSG in record transfer, Ibra back to Man Utd?

Stewart Robson assesses rumours around Neymar, Chicharito, Alexis Sanchez and many more in Rumour Rater.

With attention focusing on the summer transfer window, David Amoyal predicts how likely it is that these rumoured moves actually happen.

Neymar to Paris Saint-Germain: 35 percent

It turns out that Marco Verratti may get his wish to play with Barcelona after all, only it could be a watered-down version in Paris. After completing the signing of former Barca defender Dani Alves last week, PSG's chairman and CEO Nasser Al-Khelaifi is now considering paying Neymar's exorbitant exit clause worth €220...

Stoke need reinforcements virtually everywhere after miserable campaign

Janusz Michallik and Alexis Nunes take a long look at how the Premier League top 6 shaped out this season.
Mark Hughes and Stoke City had virtually nothing to celebrate this season.

A disappointing season, which picked up where the previous one ended, completed 18 months of misery under an increasingly floundering Mark Hughes.

Rating out of 10: 2

Sadly, there has been very little to celebrate this season, making it nigh on impossible to pick even a solitary highlight from it. The manager himself was asked the same question, and his response was to champion draws against Manchester United and Manchester City, which gives a telling indication of just how underwhelming...

Mark Hughes: Still time for struggling Giannelli Imbula to improve for Stoke

Stoke boss Mark Hughes is set to give record signing Giannelli Imbula one more chance before making a decision on whether to sell him in the summer.

Imbula joined the Potters for £18.3 million from Porto, but has struggled to make an impact and last started a Premier League game in December.

Despite reports the club are prepared to take a significant loss and offload him at the end of the current campaign, Hughes says he has not yet given up hope that the Belgian-born player could be a success.
