Germany's problems to continue like Spain's did - Fulham's Andre Schurrle

Fulham forward Andre Schurrle has suggested that Germany's current struggles might continue for years to come, just as Spain had problems after winning the World Cup in 2010.

Germany suffered a turbulent 2018, which included elimination at the group stage of the World Cup, Mesut Ozil withdrawing from international football citing racism and relegation from their Nations League group after finishing behind France and the Netherlands.

Schurrle viewed much of this from the outside as the forward...

Andre Schurrle's journey from winning the World Cup to fighting relegation

How would you cope if you reached the pinnacle of your profession at 23 years of age? Where would you go from there? Would you find it difficult to return to the prosaic realities of everyday life? Would you be able to rouse enthusiasm for the less glorious aspects of your job?

Andre Schurrle was in that position in 2014. The German forward set up Mario Gotze's winning goal in the World Cup final over Argentina, not forgetting grabbing a couple for himself in the historic 7-1 humiliation of...

Andre Schurrle: Dortmund, Germany fans' 'jealousy' comments misinterpreted

Fulham's new loan signing Andre Schurrle says he was misinterpreted when saying jealousy from fans drove him away from Germany.

Schurrle left Borussia Dortmund earlier this summer, joining Premier League side Fulham on an initial two-year loan deal. It ended a difficult spell in Germany, where he was criticised by sections of his own support.

"It was not easy, the relationship between fans and players. It's a big jealousy thing in Germany that you have from fans -- not the hardcore fans, because...

Andre Schurrle returned to London on a two-year loan from Borussia Dortmund last month.

Andre Schurrle said fans' jealousy drove him to return to England and is why many Germany internationals do not play in the Bundesliga.

Schurrle, 27, joined Fulham last month on a two-year loan from Borussia Dortmund, the club he joined from Wolfsburg in 2016.

He spent two mediocre seasons at Dortmund, scoring three Bundesliga goals in 33 of a possible 68 appearances, and not only did he lose his place in the national team, he became a target of ironic chants of "Schuuuu" and "We'll drink until...

Fulham have signed Germany international midfielder Andre Schurrle on loan from Borussia Dortmund, the club announced on Wednesday.

The 27-year-old will join the Craven Cottage club for two seasons. The former Chelsea man spent the past two campaigns at Dortmund after spending a year at Wolfsburg.

"Andre has been a top target for us,...

Andre Schurrle set for Borussia Dortmund exit as talks open with another club

Andre Schurrle sat out Borussia Dortmund's International Champions Cup friendly win over Manchester City as he is holding talks with another club, the German side have said.

Dortmund claimed a 1-0 win over the Premier League champions through Mario Gotze's penalty; with Schurrle playing no part.

Afterwards, the club tweeted an update on the former Chelsea man, which confirmed he had sat out the match as held talks with another club -- and sporting director Michael Zorc later added that he had...
