Rafa Benitez: No intention of bringing Jack Colback into Newcastle plans

Jack Colback
Jack Colback remains an unnecessary extra man at Newcastle under Rafa Benitez.

Rafael Benitez has admitted there is no way back for Jack Colback at Newcastle.

The 28-year-old midfielder continues to train with the club's under-23s after being told during the summer that he had no future at St James' Park and could leave.

However, a transfer window move failed to materialise and, despite Benitez having latest signing Mikel Merino potentially missing for several weeks with a lower back problem, a man who was called into the England squad back in 2014 will not be drafted back...

Jack Colback
Jack Colback's Newcastle side currently sit second in the Championship table, five points above Huddersfield in third.

Wijnaldum, Colback disappointing for Newcastle vs. Aston Villa

And so Newcastle fans anticipate what is likely to be a final Premier League hurrah at St James' Park.

Newcastle's failure to beat the rock bottom side in the top-flight for the second time this season sees them tumbling towards the Championship with Aston Villa. Unfortunately, they will deserve to be there after a dismal campaign, into which they went badly prepared.

It was a lacklustre display from Newcastle in front of goal. Somehow the confidence gained from the four-game unbeaten run built...

Newcastle midfielder Jack Colback has been ruled out for up to six weeks with a knee injury.
