Missed chance by Gerson part of rough day for Roma against Chievo

Roma saw their title hopes dented by wasteful finishing and a wonderful performance by Chievo goalkeeper Stefano Sorrentino, who was on hand to push away anything that the Giallorossi managed to put on target.

Roma had more than two-thirds of possession and 26 shots -- more than any other team this season -- and while veteran Sorrentino was on top form to deny Roma, it was the away side's profligacy that stopped them from returning south with all three points.

If Patrik Schick was unlucky to see...

Diego Perotti signs new contract with Roma until 2021

Diego Perotti has signed a new three-and-a-half-year contract with Roma.

The Argentinian winger, 29, joined the Giallorossi in January 2016 and has since made 78 appearances in all competitions, scoring 17 goals.

After extending his deal with Roma until June 2021, he told the club's official website: "From the first game I have felt very at home here. I have enjoyed some of the best moments of my career here, and I hope to experience many more. I'm very happy."

The news comes two days after Perotti...

Diego Perotti puts final touch on historic night for determined Roma

Roma capped off a hugely important day in their history by defying expectations and topping Champions League Group C, thanks to a scrappy single-goal win over resilient Qarabag.

Star man Diego Perotti, who shot Roma into the group stages in the final seconds of last season, nodded them into the competition's last 16 on Tuesday night, pouncing on the rebound after Edin Dzeko fluffed a one-on-one with Qarabag keeper Ibrahim Sehic eight minutes after half-time. That goal, combined with Chelsea failing...

Radja Nainggolan, Diego Perotti fire Roma past Lazio in Derby della Capitale

Radja Nainggolan will finally leave Roma this summer.
Radja Nainggolan delivered another commanding performance and scored the eventual winner vs. rivals Lazio.

Roma send a major Scudetto signal after winning a pulsating Rome derby that saw the Giallorossi dominate local rivals Lazio in a match played out in front of a packed, raucous Stadio Olimpico. After the national team's World Cup disaster earlier in the week, the derby Saturday night truly showcased the very best of Italian football.

Diego Perotti and Radja Nainggolan celebrated their respective returns to the international fold by winning the derby with two goals in four second half minutes, the...

Stephan El Shaarawy, Roma expose Chelsea's worsening defence ... again

ROME -- Three thoughts on Roma's 3-0 win over Chelsea at the Stadio Olimpico in the UEFA Champions League.

1. Chelsea picked off as Morata's drought continues

When these two teams played out a thrilling 3-3 draw at Stamford Bridge a fortnight ago, Antonio Conte admitted that Chelsea had never controlled proceedings despite taking -- and then surrendering -- a 2-0 lead. Fortunes were reversed at Stadio Olimpico, but Roma were not so generous.

A breathless opening minute was the match in microcosm:...

Federico Fazio a nightmare, Diego Perotti a bright spot in defeat vs. Inter

Roma's Federico Fazio had a nightmare trying to stop Inter's Mauro Icardi in a 3-1 defeat.

Two lightning strikes from Mauro Icardi flipped Roma's world upside down as the Giallorossi failed to capitalise on a 1-0 first-half lead and long periods of dominance, collapsing at the Stadio Olimpico, thanks to Inter Milan's ruthless centre-forward and a late tap-in from Matias Vecino.

Everything looked rosy in the Eternal City when Edin Dzeko collected Radja Nainggolan's Platini-esque chipped pass and fired home a beautiful 15th-minute opener -- his 50th in a Roma shirt. That...
