Wolfsburg midfielder Luiz Gustavo completes move to Marseille

Luiz Gustavo has wrapped up a move to Marseille.

Marseille have announced the signing of midfielder Luiz Gustavo from Wolfsburg.

L'Equipe reported that Marseille will pay €8 million to the Bundesliga club, where Gustavo has spent the last four seasons.

Announcing the signing of the 29-year-old, Marseille said he was a player of "experience, versatility and strength of character."

He won both the Champions League and a Bundesliga title during his time at Bayern Munich, lifting the DFB Pokal with Wolfsburg.

Wolfsburg's Luiz Gustavo 'shocked' by his reaction to red card vs. Bayern

Luiz Gustavo had to be restrained by teammates after his red card.

Wolfsburg midfielder Luiz Gustavo has said he was "shocked" when he saw images of himself being held back by teammates after he was sent off against Bayern Munich on Saturday.

The 29-year-old was sent off for two bookings as Wolfsburg were crushed 6-0 by his former club and was been fined €15,000 by the German FA (DFB) for his angry reaction.

Luiz Gustavo said he regretted those protests to referee Felix Zwayer and added: "Sadly, this was a moment when I couldn't control myself."

Wolfsburg's Luiz Gustavo levels Bundesliga record for most red cards

Wolfsburg midfielder Luiz Gustavo equalled former Germany international Jens Nowotny's record of eight Bundesliga red cards -- needing 91 games less to do so -- after his dismissal in the 6-0 loss to Bayern Munich on Saturday.

Gustavo, 29, received his marching orders from referee Felix Zwayer 12 minutes from time after picking up a second yellow card for fouling Renato Sanches.

Gustavo then lost his cool, sarcastically applauded the referee and had to be stopped by his teammates and former Bayern...

Luiz Gustavo backs Andries Jonker to turn Wolfsburg around

Andries Jonker left a job in Arsenal's academy to become Wolfsburg coach.
Andries Jonker has previous Bundesliga experience with Bayern Munich and Wolfsburg.

Luiz Gustavo believes that new Wolfsburg coach Andries Jonker will make "every single player better" as the 2015 DFB Pokal winners aim to avoid relegation from the Bundesliga.

Former Arsenal academy head Jonker, 54, was appointed as Wolfsburg's third coach of the season on Monday. He replaced Valerien Ismael, who in mid-October took over from Dieter Hecking.

Despite a star-studded squad, Wolfsburg have picked up only 22 points from their first 22 league games and face a battle against the drop....

Rumours rated: Kolasinac to Chelsea? Morata to Arsenal? Giovinco to China?

With the January transfer window set to close, where might the late deals be done? David Amoyal looks at some of the current rumours and predicts how likely it is that the proposed moves actually happen.

Alvaro Morata to Arsenal: 35 percent

The Spanish striker has been linked with a move but, considering Real Madrid were asking in excess of €50 million for him last summer, his market is likely to be restricted to the Premier League now that Paris Saint-Germain has signed Goncalo Guedes. Arsenal...

Wolfsburg's Luiz Gustavo has not heard from Nice and could stay at club

Luiz Gustavo joined Wolfsburg from Bayern Munich in 2013.

Wolfsburg midfielder Luiz Gustavo has said he has not heard anything from Nice despite being linked with a move to the Ligue 1 leaders.

Gustavo, 29, started the season as Wolfsburg's captain, but his future at the club is far from certain and he is reported to be a target for both Nice and Inter Milan.

In early December, Wolfsburg coach Valerien Ismael said the former Bayern Munich player, 29, "can't help us right now" and demoted him to the bench before recalling him for the final two games of...
