Feyenoord legend Dirk Kuyt completes fan's tattoo to mark title win

Dirk Kuyt cemented his legendary status at Feyenoord in fitting fashion last season by scoring a hat trick to secure the Dutch club's first league title since 1999 in his final game before retirement.

As a mark of respect, one Feyenoord fan decided to immortalise the momentous day by having Kuyt's face tattooed onto his thigh, along with an image of the Eredivisie trophy that the veteran striker helped to win.

As a final added bonus, the supporter finished off the piece by allowing Kuyt himself...

Russian hackers open medical data on Carlos Tevez, others at World Cup

Argentina stars Juan Sebastian Veron and Carlos Tevez were among the names on the hackers' list.

Carlos Tevez, Juan Sebastian Veron and Dirk Kuyt have been named by hackers Fancy Bears as three of the players permitted to use otherwise-banned medicines during the 2010 World Cup.

Tevez and Veron are two of five Argentina players listed in a document which details therapeutic use exemptions (TUEs) and declarations of use of medicines for 25 players during the tournament in South Africa more than seven years ago.

The Fancy Bears have previously published details of TUEs -- essentially a doctor's...

Top Eredivisie club captains request ban of artificial turf

Feyenoord players want to see matches on artificial turf banned.

AMSTERDAM -- Captains of 12 Netherlands top-tier teams have asked the national federation and league organisers to ban matches on artificial turf.

Dirk Kuyt of title-winning Feyenoord and Davy Klaassen of Ajax joined a protest by their national union known as the VVCS.

Kuyt, who announced his retirement this week, said: "I know for sure that due to artificial pitches Dutch football will fall further behind."

The captains point to "technical and tactical consequences" of authorities letting six of...

Feyenoord's Dirk Kuyt announces retirement following Dutch title win

Dirk Kuyt has announced he is retiring from football -- just three days after captaining Feyenoord to the Eredivisie title.

Kuyt, 36, scored a hat trick on Sunday as Feyenoord defeated Heracles 3-1 to beat Ajax to the title -- the first time they have won the trophy in 18 years.

The former Netherlands international, who also represented Utrecht, Liverpool and Fenerbahce, will take up a non-playing role with Feyenoord. Kuyt rejoined the Dutch club in 2015 having spent three years there between 2003...

Feyenoord's title win sums up the quiet brilliance of tireless, peerless Dirk Kuyt

Kuyt and Feyenoord captured the league title on Sunday and captured our hearts in the process.

On Sunday, Feyenoord ended their 18-year title drought with a 3-1 win over Heracles Almelo. They won via an emphatic close-range finish from a narrow angle, a neatly flicked header and a converted penalty. And all three goals to clinch a first Eredivisie title since 1999 came from one man: Dirk Kuyt.

In a year of European football that has seen a lot of business as usual, with Bayern running roughshod in Germany and Chelsea surging back to the top of the Premier League after a lost season, Feyenoord's...
