Sydney FC's Siem De Jong set to miss FFA Cup final with hamstring injury

Sydney FC are all but certain to be without marquee Siem De Jong for Tuesday's FFA Cup final after suffering a hamstring injury against Western Sydney.

De Jong came off the bench in the second half of Saturday's A-League win over the Wanderers but lasted just 20 minutes before being forced from the field.

Siem de Jong signs marquee loan deal with Sydney FC

Sydney FC have signed ex-Premier League player Siem de Jong as their marquee player on a season-long loan from Dutch giants Ajax.

The former Netherlands international, who can play as attacking midfielder or striker, scored two goals in six national team appearances and captained Ajax for two seasons.

He won four Eredivisie league titles in his first spell with the club from 2008 to 2014 and also played in the Champions League.

Newcastle midfielder Siem de Jong has completed a permanent move back to Ajax as manager Rafael Benitez continues to clear the decks in the hope of making further signings.

The 28-year-old has ended an injury-plagued three-year stay at St James' Park to rejoin the club he left for Tyneside in a £6 million switch in 2014.

Newcastle United's Siem de Jong joins PSV Eindhoven on loan

Newcastle United striker Siem de Jong has joined PSV Eindhoven on a season-long loan.

De Jong, 27, joined the Magpies from Ajax in 2014 but has only managed seven starts and 26 appearances in total for the club because of a series of injury problems.

At PSV he will link up with his brother Luuk de Jong, who spent time on loan with Newcastle during the 2013-14 campaign.

Newcastle midfielder Siem de Jong feared he could lose the sight in one eye after a freak training ground accident.

De Jong, 26, was rushed to hospital with blood pouring from his eye after a training ground accident on Wednesday, and there were genuine fears that he had suffered permanent damage.
