Al-Ittihad sign Matthew Jurman from Suwon Samsung Bluewings

Australian national team defender Matthew Jurman has a new home after signing with Saudi Arabian club Al-Ittihad.

The 28-year-old was part of the Socceroos' World Cup squad but was one of eight players who didn't see a minute of action under Bert van Marwijk in Russia.

The pain of that snub will be soothed somewhat by his deal with the Jeddah-based club, which is reportedly worth $4 million over two years.

Fringe Socceroo James Troisi spent six months at Al-Ittihad in 2015, making only eight league...

Bailey Wright ruled out for Australia opening door for Matt Jurman

Matthew Jurman looks set to continue his dream debut Socceroos week after Bailey Wright's omission from the squad to face Syria.
Matt Jurman is likely to feature for Australia against Syria with Bailey Wright ruled out due to injury.

The door is open for Matt Jurman to continue his dream debut Socceroos week after Bailey Wright was ruled out of Tuesday's home World Cup qualifying playoff match through injury.

Ryan McGowan will replace Bristol City centre-back Wright, who was suspended for Australia's opening 1-1 away draw and has now succumbed to injury three days out from Australia's second leg against Syria in Sydney.

It means Jurman appears likely to build on his solid debut in Malaysia at the left side of coach Ange Postecoglou's...

Matt Jurman: 'Weird feeling' to watch Sydney FC win A-League double

Matt Jurman watched the 2016 A-League Grand Final while on Asian Champions League duty in Guangzhou with Sydney FC. A year later, he was back in the same Chinese city watching the same game -- only this time his former club was in action.

The defender left the Sky Blues in January to join South Korea's Suwon Bluewings, and when his old colleagues were taking on Melbourne Victory for the title, he was preparing for Suwon's must-win final group stage match at the home of Chinese Super League giants...

Matt Jurman opens up about 'tough decision' to switch Sydney for Suwon

Matt Jurman made 74 appearances during his four-year stint at Sydney FC, scoring two goals.

Former Sydney FC defender Matt Jurman has opened up about the agonising decision to leave the undefeated Sky Blues and take up an offer at one of Asia's footballing giants.

Having knocked back an approach from a Dutch club in the winter, Jurman had set his sights on finally helping Sydney break their A-League title drought in the summer.

But just as the Sky Blues positioned themselves as the team to beat with a historic unbeaten run through to January, Korean club Suwon came calling about Jurman's...

Suwon Bluewings circling as Matt Jurman confirms Sydney FC exit

Sydney FC's championship aspirations have copped a massive blow with confirmation defender Matt Jurman has played his final game for the club and will move overseas.

The A-League outfit on Tuesday announced they had accepted a transfer fee from an Asian club, believed to be Suwon Bluewings, for their vice-captain during the current transfer window.

Jurman's exit cruels the heart of a Sky Blues' defence that has conceded just five goals on their way to building a seven-point gap on their rivals atop...

Sydney FC line up Rhys Williams as Matt Jurman courts K-League move

Sydney FC are in the frame to sign star Perth defender Rhys Williams as their own key centre-back Matt Jurman eyes a move to Asia.

The Sky Blues recently made a formal inquiry about the availability of Williams but were told by Glory that his one-year deal included a clause for a second year.

However his omission from Kenny Lowe's squad in the last two matches is a strong indication that the 28-year-old will leave his hometown club after an unremarkable few months back in Australia.

And with Jurman...
