Bobo extends marquee deal with A-League champions Sydney FC

Sydney FC have secured one major piece of the puzzle for their A-League title defence with confirmation marquee striker Bobo will stay on for a further season.

The Brazilian's retention outside the Sky Blues cap has been in the works for weeks, with Bobo himself revealing contract terms were nearing completion even before their Grand Final triumph early this month.

But to have the club's golden boot winner cemented for 2017-18 is a coup for coach Graham Arnold, who's now locked away almost everyone...

Bobo set to sign marquee contract extension with Sydney FC

Sydney FC striker Bobo is set to sign a marquee contract extension with the A-League grand finalists by next week.

The Brazilian $1 million man has effectively sealed his future with Graham Arnold's record-breaking premiers following an impressive debut campaign featuring 15 goals -- the fourth-highest in the league.

"I hope to stay next season," Bobo said. "They've started talking, I think maybe this week or next week we finish the contract."

The Sky Blues are all too happy to lock in the 32-year-old...

Arnold wants more from Sydney FC marquee duo Bobo and Filip Holosko

Sydney FC coach Graham Arnold has declined to confirm marquees Bobo and Filip Holosko will play FFA Cup final conquerors Melbourne City, instead appearing to issue the pair a challenge to lift their game.

Both were conspicuous absentees from the Sky Blues' starting line-up that beat the Newcastle Jets 2-0 in their A-League clash on Sunday, with Bobo introduced off the bench for 20 minutes and Holosko not in the match-day squad at all.

The Slovak winger and Brazilian striker have recently struggled...

Former Besiktas striker Bobo is Sydney FC's new Marc Janko in A-League

Sydney FC striker Bobo
Sydney FC are hoping Bobo can lead their A-League title charge this season.

Sydney FC coach Graham Arnold says new import striker Bobo offers more than the clinical finishing of his predecessor Marc Janko.

One look at the pedigree of Sydney's new marquee striker is enough to convince even sceptics he can deliver the goals so sorely missed last A-League season.

The 31-year-old Brazilian import is Besiktas' all-time top scorer, with 97 goals in 222 games.

He's won championships with the Turkish giants and Brazilian side Corinthians, hit the back of the net in the Champions...

Bobo to make Sydney FC debut, Alex Brosque to return vs. Perth Glory

Sydney FC striker Bobo
Former Besiktas striker Bobo, left, has joined Sydney FC as their marquee player for the upcoming A-League season.

Bobo is expected to make his debut for Sydney FC in Tuesday's FFA Cup tie against Perth Glory, with coach Graham Arnold predicting big things from the Brazilian striker.

Sydney captain Alex Brosque, who missed the latter part of the last A-League season with a hamstring injury, is also tipped to play at least some of the game at Dorrien Gardens.

Bobo is Sydney FC's most recent recruit and is expected to add some firepower to the Sky Blues front line.

"Bobo is settling in very well and we expect...
