Emotional goalkeeper Andrew Redmayne has given credit to Sydney FC goalkeeping coach John Crawley for transforming him into a bona fide A-League champion.

The 30-year-old was Sydney's hero in Sunday night's penalty shootout Grand Final win over Perth, saving efforts from Glory strikers Andy Keogh and Brendon Santalab.

Arsene Wenger on Andrew Redmayne: 'If he was with us, we made a mistake'

Arsene Wenger doesn't remember the two-week period 12 years ago when a teenage Andrew Redmayne trialled with Arsenal.

But after watching the Sydney FC reserve goalkeeper's performance against his English Premier League side, he's got one thing clear.

An early start to the A-League pre-season will give Sydney FC's Andrew Redmayne more of a chance at becoming the club's first-choice goalkeeper.

Released Western Sydney goalkeeper Andrew Redmayne has officially swapped the red and black for sky blue, signing an 18-month contract with A-League rivals Sydney FC.
