Andre Ayew confirmed as Ghana captain for Afcon

Ghana have officially named Andre Ayew the team's captain for the Africa Cup of Nations, with the Fenerbahce loanee replacing Asamoah Gyan as skipper.

Gyan, who retired last week after being told he would not be the captain for the tournament, and then unretired at the behest of the country's president, has been given the title of 'general captain'.

Ghana recall Ayew brothers for Ethiopia clash

Andre and Jordan Ayew are set to end their year-long absence from the Black Stars squad after Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah named the duo in the West Africans' Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Ethiopia.

The brothers are among 20 players called up for the game in Addis Ababa on November 18.

They've not played for the national side since the 1-1 draw against Congo-Brazzaville in a World Cup qualifier in September 2017, having opted out of the return match.

Swansea City's Andre Ayew spoke out against the comments made by former West Ham United official Tony Henry.

Swansea City striker Andre Ayew has defended African players after former West Ham United director of recruitment Tony Henry questioned their attitude.

West Ham sacked Henry after the Daily Mail claimed he said they no longer wanted to sign African players because "they have a bad attitude" and "cause mayhem" when not selected.

Swansea re-sign striker Andre Ayew from West Ham for £18m

Andre Ayew left the club in 2016.

Swansea made Andre Ayew their first signing of the January transfer window as the Ghana striker returned to the Liberty Stadium in a club-record deal.

Ayew left Swansea for West Ham in the summer of 2016 for £20.5million.

The 28-year-old returns for a record fee, understood to be £18m and possibly rising to £20m.
