Peru fans' celebrations after Jefferson Farfan's goal put them on course for a first World Cup qualification in 36 years caused several earthquake-detection apps to send warnings.
The South American nation took the final World Cup spot after Wednesday's 2-0 win over New Zealand.
Farfan broke the deadlock in the 27th minute when he blasted home from 10 yards, triggering celebrations of seismic proportions.
Sismologia Chile initially said a tremor had occurred in neighbouring Peru just as Farfan scored but later clarified that "the alarm detector was activated in the district of Lima due to Peru's goal celebration against New Zealand."

Media in Peru paid tribute to the national team, with Pedro Canelo of El Comercio newspaper writing: "Never forget where you were on Nov. 15, 2017."
Delighted players threw their Argentine coach Ricardo Gareca into the air as fans spilled onto the streets to party.
The government then extended the celebrations for a further day by announcing a national holiday on Thursday.
President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski thanked the players and tweeted: "We waited more than 35 years to be again at a World Cup. Thank you warriors for giving us this joy! We will all celebrate responsibly... Go Peru!"
Farfan dedicated his goal to captain Paolo Guerrero, a childhood friend who scored six goals in the qualifying campaign but missed the playoffs after being given a provisional suspension by FIFA for failing a doping test.
"I dedicate this to Paolo," Farfan told reporters after holding up Guerrero's shirt in his celebrations. "I promised him we would deliver.
"I hope that you can resolve your situation and come to the World Cup with us."
He had not scored for the Blanquirroja since November 2015, and said Wednesday's goal was the "most important of his career."
Guerrero wrote on his Facebook page: "Everyone's dream has come true, together more united than ever. We are in Russia."
