Perth Glory ready to bounce back from Sydney FC thrashing - Andy Keogh

Perth Glory captain Andy Keogh says his side is looking to quickly make amends for Saturday's 6-0 A-League hiding at the hands of Sydney FC when they host Adelaide United at nib Stadium on Friday night.

While the club considers their opponent's performance to have been world class, they also believe that their own careless mistakes contributed massively to most of the goals that were scored against them.

Perth spent more time than usual analysing video footage after the loss when they let in five goals in the second half, including three from Bobo.

Keogh said he had spent some of his own time ensuring the club's younger players learned from those errors made against Sydney, but didn't dwell on them.

"You have to pick up the young lads; make sure people don't get too down about it," he said.

"It's one game in a career that could span 300-500 games. It's what you do after you have made mistakes.

"The scoreline flatters them really, because of the first 30 minutes and then the first 20 minutes of the second half; we were well in the game. We just have to put it right this week."

The focus for the Glory this week was their team defence, but they remain aware that they are still in sixth spot on the table because they beat Brisbane Roar (2-1) and Wellington Phoenix (1-0) before last week's disappointing result.

Andy Keogh
Andy Keogh will lead the Glory out against Adelaide on Friday night.

They will have won three of their past four games and will leapfrog fifth-placed Adelaide with a win on Friday night.

Keogh said that they have defied injuries to key players to remain in the mix. And believes they can match it with the best if their best side, including their three key strikers (himself, Diego Castro and Adam Taggart), get the chance to play more together.

Taggart has been added to the squad for Friday's game to replace Brandon Wilson, who has international responsibilities with the Olyroos.

"We haven't played enough games together. We haven't got the midfield behind us who have played enough games together to supply us with the ammunition," he said.

"But when that happens, we score a goal.

"When you look at Sydney who are doing so well, there so-called top players have been there week in week out and are fit and playing, but we have been doing exceptionally well before when we had a settled team and not a lot of injuries."

STATS THAT MATTER:

- Perth Glory have conceded just five goals on home turf this season, the fewest of any team in the competition.

- Glory goalkeeper Liam Reddy has made 16 saves from shots from outside the box this season, more than any other keeper in the competition.

- Adelaide's Spanish midfielder Isaias has created 22 scoring chances so far this campaign, the most of any player yet to provide an assist.
