Xavi Torres, Alex Grant join Perth Glory's growing injury list

Perth Glory midfielder Xavi Torres has been ruled out of Saturday night's A-League clash with Wellington at nib Stadium with the club waiting on the results of Alex Grant's scans.

Torres (groin) and Grant (hamstring) limped off in the second half of last week's 2-1 home loss to Newcastle, adding to Glory's extensive injury woes.

Torres is expected to miss at least two weeks with his injury, while Grant underwent scans on Monday night and is also set to miss the Phoenix game.

Grant has played a key role in defence this season, and the Glory will be hoping his injury isn't serious.

Star striker Andy Keogh appears unlikely to return this week after aggravating his groin injury at training last Friday.

Keogh has missed the past two games and the club has booked him in for more scans in a bid to determine whether a nerve-related back issue has been causing his groin flare-ups.

Defender Scott Neville is still about a fortnight away from returning as he deals with a toe injury that he has been carrying for months.

Neville hasn't played since injuring his groin in the 5-2 loss to Phoenix on Nov. 12, but it is his ongoing toe issue that has held back his return.

The 28-year-old fractured his toe in the 1-0 FFA Cup loss to Heidelberg United on Auq. 1.

Andreu (calf) and Marc Warren (ankle) are other players still sidelined.

In a rare dose of good news, striker Joel Chianese could return off the bench against Phoenix after recovering from a broken collarbone.

Diego Castro made a successful return off the bench from a calf injury last week, and could be in line for a starting role against Wellington.

Newcastle's extra-time winner last week saw Glory drop to eighth place on the ladder.

They are four points adrift of fourth spot and can ill afford to drop any points against the rock bottom Phoenix.
