Perth Glory's Maclaren eyes off more goals
Perth Glory striker Jamie Maclaren believes a weight has been lifted off his shoulders after breaking through for his first A-League goal.
Maclaren scored the winner in Sunday's 1-0 triumph over Melbourne Heart, and hopes the goal will be the first of many this season.
The 20-year-old struggled for opportunities at Blackburn Rovers during his four-year stint in England.
But the Young Socceroo hopes a successful stint with Perth Glory in the A-League will help build the foundations for a successful career abroad.
Maclaren faces a battle to hold his spot in the Glory line-up once Shane Smeltz returns from a hip injury next month.
But the speedy forward says there's no reason why they can't both play in the same line-up.
Glory will host Sydney FC at nib Stadium on Saturday, and Maclaren is aiming to add to his goal tally.
"Scoring my first A-League goal was a special moment," Maclaren said.
"The last few weeks I've been having chances but I'm glad to have scored.
"I felt like a lot of weight was off my shoulders as soon as it went in but hopefully it's the first of many.
"I had chances in the last two games away and I felt like I needed this goal, and to get it at home and in front of the crowd was really good."
Sydney skipper Alessandro Del Piero is no certainty to return from a calf injury against Glory.
