PSG resume talks with Vitoria over becoming satellite club - source

PARIS -- The president of Portuguese club Vitoria is in Paris to continue talks with Paris Saint-Germain sporting director Antero Henrique over becoming a satellite club, a source close to the Ligue 1 leaders has told ESPN FC.

Vitoria chief Julio Mendes, as well as majority shareholder Mario Ferreira, are due to meet with Henrique in the coming days to continue discussions that took place recently, with Mendes now successfully re-elected as president of the Primeira Liga club.

Since Henrique's arrival last summer, PSG have been exploring the possibility of developing a link with another European club who can give their young talent crucial first-team experience as part of their development.

PSG have previously looked at clubs in Spain, Belgium and France's Ligue 2, but Henrique's knowledge and contacts in Portuguese football moved Vitoria to the top of his short list of desired partners.

Despite the appointment of popular former player and coach Luis Fernandez as youth academy sporting director, PSG continue to struggle to keep hold of their top-rated youth players and a satellite club such as Vitoria are viewed as a crucial step in plugging that leak.

Yacine Adli is yet to sign a professional contract, and a number of other promising players have been offered full senior contracts.

Record have confirmed Mendes' presence in Paris, with he and Ferreira expected to link up with Henrique and Fernandez for talks.
