PARIS -- Paris Saint-Germain have not rejected Brazilian reports that Neymar could return from injury and feature before the end of the club season.
The 26-year-old is back in Brazil recovering after surgery on a fractured metatarsal sustained in early March. There were reports he could have missed up to three months.
However, according to UOL Esporte, Neymar could be back in action for PSG by the end of April and it is possible he features against one or more of Amiens, Rennes and Caen in Ligue 1, as well as one of semi-professional pair Les Herbiers or Chambly in the Coupe de France final -- provided that Les Parisiens overcome Caen in the semifinals.
When asked about the reports, PSG did not reject them, but instead reiterated their stance since Neymar's operation. He will be assessed in mid-April -- six weeks since the procedure -- and only then will an estimated return date be established.
The Ligue 1 leaders also stressed that Neymar will not be rushed back into action, even if the capital club hope to see him play again before the end of the campaign.
UOL's report added that the player wants to play as much as possible ahead of the World Cup in Russia in order to be closer to full fitness. Neymar recently posted an update of himself receiving ultrasound treatment as he continues his recovery in South America.
He will have to watch remotely on Saturday as PSG meet Monaco in the Coupe de la Ligue final at Matmut Atlantique in Bordeaux, after scoring once en route to the showpiece match.
