PSG's Kylian Mbappe 'fine' after colliding with Lyon keeper Anthony Lopes

Paris Saint-Germain have issued a reassuring update over Kylian Mbappe's health after the France international was involved in a collision with Lyon goalkeeper Anthony Lopes on Sunday.

The Ligue 1 leaders lost 2-1 at Lyon's Groupama Stadium but Mbappe, 19, only lasted 35 minutes after colliding with Lopes as both raced for the ball in the hosts' penalty area.

Mbappe endured a rough outing in Lyon, also suffering a gashed head before he was taken off.

"Kylian is doing fine," Mbappe's mother tweeted shortly after the former Monaco man had been replaced by Julian Draxler. "Thank you for your messages."

PSG released an official medical update after the game, stating that the player was fit to return to the capital with his teammates.

"Post-match in Lyon, the medical staff noted reassuring signs and authorised Kylian to travel back to Paris," read PSG's statement. "He will undergo further medical examination at the start of the week."

Mbappe took to Twitter to reassure concerned supporters after PSG had published their update.

"Just to say that I am fine," said the teenager. "It was more scary than painful after this heavy collision.

"No hard feelings towards Anthony Lopes -- thank you everybody for your messages."

Speaking with Le Parisien, former international referee Bruno Derrien acknowledged that the situation was "complicated to judge" but that Lopes "did not control himself that well when coming out" and consequently "could have conceded a penalty."

Lopes was left in no doubt that it wasn't a penalty, though, but did admit that he was at least able to brace for impact.

"It was not a penalty," Lopes stated in the mixed zone. "First of all because I touched the ball. After that, it was an extraordinary coming together.

"Kylian was concentrated on his run and did not see me coming. I hit him at chest height. I was able to anticipate the collision a bit and protect myself but he was not."

It is unclear as to whether or not Mbappe will be fit to return to action in the Coupe de France at home to Guingamp on Wednesday but coach Unai Emery did not rule out the possibility.
