Marquinhos '100 percent' plans to stay at Paris Saint-Germain

PARIS -- Although Paris Saint-Germain are set to be deposed as Ligue 1 champions by AS Monaco, Marquinhos handed the capital club a big boost when he declared he will "100 percent" be a PSG player next season.

Speaking with Canal+ after a 5-0 win away at AS Saint-Etienne to keep Les Parisiens' mathematical chances of retaining their French title alive, the Brazil international -- who recently discovered he will become a father for the first time -- declared he will remain at Parc des Princes.

"My future? I will be here next season to win back the title," said Marquinhos. "I will 100 percent be Parisien."

"We were really motivated and the atmosphere was fantastic," Marquinhos said of the match at Stade Geoffroy-Guichard on Sunday. "It was very important to score the first goal at the start of the game.

"After a quarter of an hour, Saint-Etienne got back into it a bit but we were solid defensively and Kevin [Trapp] was important behind us. We were able to make the most of our chances and that is what made the difference. Even at 2-0, we showed a real hunger to play and score.

"I am happy for Lucas with his double tonight. He was instrumental in attack."

PSG coach Unai Emery watched Edinson Cavani and Lucas Moura both score twice on Sunday, while Julian Draxler added another.

The Spaniard praised his players for an excellent performance but admitted Monaco deserve recognition for their fantastic season.

"It was a beautiful victory," Emery said after the final whistle. "The team played well for the whole match. We mastered the ball and did well in possession, as evidenced by our late goal.

"Monaco are not champions yet but it must be said that they have enjoyed a beautiful season. We need to continue to progress, as always.

"There are two important games left -- Caen next Saturday and then the Coupe de France final against Angers."

Goalkeeper Kevin Trapp stressed PSG's focus on all three points in Saint-Etienne and hopes next week's home clash with SM Caen will prepare them well for Angers in the Coupe de France final.

"We said prematch that we needed to stay focused until the end, even if it would be difficult," said the German. "We also showed that last week against Bastia, where we were very strong.

"Next week, we will play our final home game of the campaign. It is important that we finish strongly. On top of that, it will be great preparation to face Angers."

Speaking with Canal+, Adrien Rabiot promised another heavy thrashing for Caen next week but admitted disappointment that Monaco were able to breeze past Lille OSC so easily -- even if he recognised their strong form.

"We had it in our hearts to take all three points," the France international said. "We came to win. We did the same thing we did to Bastia and the same thing we will do to Caen.

"Monaco beating Lille 4-0? It is obviously disappointing for us. We are competitors and won the title four years in a row. If they are ahead of us, it is because they deserve to be -- even if we have picked up a lot of points in 2017."
