Paris Saint-Germain's Marco Verratti: Barcelona's Neymar my ideal signing

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti has said that if he could pick one player to join the Ligue 1 champions it would be Barcelona star Neymar.

Speaking to beIN SPORTS, Verratti praised Neymar for his role in the 6-5 aggregate win over PSG in the Champions League and said he was on par with Camp Nou colleague Lionel Messi.

"He was impressive over both legs against Barca," the Italy international said.

"This year, he has added a new dimension to his game. He is now on the same level as Messi. He will be one of the future greats."

Verratti, 24, said the 6-1 Champions League defeat at the Camp Nou had been the lowest moment of his career.

"Nobody expected that result," he added. "I was annoyed to go out without playing our game. We were only looking to defend and to wait for time to pass.

"These are small things, but I can accept a 4-0 loss with lots of chances created more easily than I can a 6-1 defeat.

"In the second half, they did not have many chances. We know that when you lose 6-1, you cannot say very much afterwards but certain things went in Barcelona's favour.

"That is football. There will be other opportunities in the future."

Asked which of his PSG teammates had impressed him the most, Verratti said: "You might not think it, but it is Maxwell.

"He is a magnificent player. On and off the pitch and also as a person. For everything."

PSG continue their pursuit of Monaco at the Ligue 1 summit when they travel to Angers on Friday and attempt to move level on points with them.
