Paris Saint-Germain ultras threaten to boycott crucial match vs. Monaco

Paris Saint-Germain's ultras have threatened to boycott Sunday's massive Ligue 1 fixture against AS Monaco because of ongoing problems with access to the Parc des Princes.

Although a few hundred dedicated supporters from the Paris Ultras Collective (CUP) are now allowed to assemble at the Auteuil end of the French champions' stadium, certain figures within the organisation are still not allowed in by local police despite not being banned from stadiums.

The CUP has taken the opportunity ahead of the biggest domestic fixture of the season so far to apply some pressure on president Nasser Al-Khelaifi.

"Come Sunday, our orders will be to show solidarity and unity!" read a message from the CUP. "For the past few months, some members of the Paris Ultras Collective who are no longer prohibited from entering stadiums, including our president, continue to be stopped illegally from entering Parc des Princes by the local police.

"A situation that was supposed to evolve has become an accepted norm that we will no longer tolerate. So, from Sunday, either everybody gets to go to the Parc or nobody will be there. No to repression and injustice!"

The atmosphere at Parc des Princes has improved massively since the ultras were allowed to return towards the end of 2016.

However, if they were removed from the stadium, the lack of ambiance could have an adverse affect on the team, particularly for such a crucial match like Monaco.

This perhaps explains the timing of the CUP's declaration, designed to make the issue such a pressing priority that PSG will not want to take the risk of their team suffering from lukewarm home support for such a crucial encounter.
