Thiago Silva hoping to stay at Paris Saint-Germain beyond 2020

Paris Saint-Germain captain Thiago Silva has revealed that he sees himself staying with the French champions past the expiry of his recently signed contract extension.

Silva, 32, put pen to paper on a deal until 2020 last month but is already adamant he wants to remain at the Parc des Princes beyond that date.

"I spent three years with AC Milan and Fluminense and it is already my fifth season in Paris," Silva told beIN SPORTS. "I am very happy. This is the best team I have played for.

"I am captain and that is something fantastic. I hope to stay at PSG for even longer because I do not want to end my career in 2020."

Silva singled out PSG's ambition as playing a key role in his decision to commit his future to the club, as well as the belief that chairman and CEO Nasser Al-Khelaifi has in him.

"The first thing that made me want to stay here is the club's ambition," Silva said. "Here, I have everything. I see that I have the confidence of the president of the club, the staff and the players too.

"Ambition is always a factor, even if this season has not been easy so far. All the big teams experience moments like that."

Silva has enjoyed an excellent start to 2017, leading a PSG defence that has only conceded just one goal from five matches across all competitions. PSG currently sit third in Ligue 1, three points behind leaders Monaco, while they have booked their place in the Coupe de La Ligue final.
