Unai Emery 'not bothered' by reports of unrest at Paris Saint-Germain

Paris Saint-Germain coach Unai Emery is not worried about recent stories in the French media concerning their dressing room atmosphere and the players' salaries.

The Spaniard had his wage and that of his players published by L'Equipe on Friday and as expected, the team from the capital dominate Ligue 1's best-paid players list.

Emery told journalists in his prematch news conference ahead of Saturday's tricky trip to face Guingamp that he was not bothered by the release of that information and added L'Equipe's reports earlier this week that Serge Aurier, Layvin Kurzawa and Hatem Ben Arfa fell out after last Sunday's 2-2 draw at home to Nice were of little importance to him either.

"Those things do not bother me too much," Emery said of reports about his salary. "It is a private matter and I do not have control over that. I am just preparing for the next match.

"Leaks from the dressing room?" he added. "I do not waste my time on these sorts of things. I think the team has a strong base. PSG are a big club and there is a strong spine here."

PSG are currently being outgunned by Nice and Monaco in the Ligue 1 title race and Emery welcomed competition from Les Monegasques.

"Monaco? They have good players and they are getting good results," the former Sevilla boss said. "If you ask me if I prefer a competitive league or not, I choose a competitive one. It is good for France and its image elsewhere. It is the best thing for French football, PSG, the fans and the media."

Despite Edinson Cavani's 22 goals from 20 appearances across all competitions, Emery thinks his team still need to improve their efficiency in front of goal.

"Every area can be worked on and improved," he said. "Some more than others. Certainly our efficiency in front of goal needs looking at, though.

"A lack of another goal scorer behind Cavani? After Ibrahimovic's departure, it is just him. We need more. Lucas has good statistics but the others must do better."

Emery emphasised Marco Verratti's importance to the team after some improved recent performances against Nice and Lille and said "there are not a lot of players like him."

"He plays with all of his qualities and his heart," Emery said. "He has a very good mentality. It is easy to train a player like him. He wants to be ready to help the team."

Giovani Lo Celso played his last match on loan with Rosario Central on Thursday and Emery confirmed "he will arrive after the holidays" and will "have to work hard to adapt."

Adrien Rabiot and Javier Pastore are out for the trip to Guingamp, while Hatem Ben Arfa -- who Emery admitted was a doubt -- has also been ruled out.

"We are going to wait, yesterday there was some warm-down exercises for the starters," Emery said. "Rabiot and Pastore will be unavailable. For Ben Arfa, we will see after the final training."

Jese Rodriguez was also left out of Emery's final 18-man squad but Serge Aurier and Layvin Kurzawa make their returns.
