Paris Saint-Germain's Javier Pastore apologises to fans after latest injury

Paris Saint-Germain playmaker Javier Pastore has apologised to the French champions' supporters after his latest injury setback.

The Argentina international, who has been plagued by a number of fitness problems over the last 12 months, was introduced as a substitute eight minutes from the end of last Saturday's 2-0 home win over FC Nantes in Ligue 1.

However, Pastore was forced off with a knee problem before the final whistle after breaching the visitors' defence to win a penalty that was converted by teammate Jese Rodriguez.

The 27-year-old South American took to Instagram to share his frustration with the PSG fans and admitted, "It is not easy to not be able to play football, the thing that makes me happiest.

"It has been more than a year now that I have been dealing with injury problems. I apologise to and thank the PSG fans for the support they have always given me and I hope to be back on the pitch as quickly as possible."

Merci beaucoup pour le soutien ! "Peleando" perdon .

El Flaco's brief cameo against Nantes was his Parc des Princes career in a nutshell; a moment of brilliance to aid the team -- giving them the penetration they regularly lack -- followed by a disappointing reminder of the fragility that has come to define him lately.

Pastore has just recovered from a series of recurring calf issues but will now almost certainly miss the trip to London to take on Arsenal in the Champions League this Wednesday with this knee issue.

Recently, a source close to the former Palermo man told ESPN FC that PSG are running out of patience with the injury-prone creator but that Chelsea, an Italian and a Chinese club remain interested in him if he was to leave Paris.

According to Canal+ last Sunday, Pastore's agent has started to look for a new club for his client from the start of 2017 -- notably one in China.
