Paris Saint-Germain set to move to state-of-the-art training base in Poissy

Paris Saint-Germain are set to open their new training centre in Poissy in 2019, with the French champions currently considering a number of architects for the project.

PSG took the decision in July to move their training centre from the Parisian suburb of Saint-Germain-en-Laye to Terrasses de Poncy in Poissy, just 20 minutes away from Parc des Princes.

The Mayor of Poissy, Karl Olive, plus former Olympic champion David Douillet and the president of the Departmental Council, Pierre Bedier, all pushed hard for Terrasses de Poncy to be selected as the site for PSG's new facility. Les Echos reports the architect of the complex should be known later this month.

"It will set a unique new standard of excellence to the rest of the world," Olive said of the ambitious plans.

Construction is expected to start in September next year and it will boast a stadium with 5,000 seats, 14 football pitches -- 10 of which will be dedicated to youth development -- across 183 acres (74 hectares) of space.

There will also be 32 rooms for players, with prematch accommodation in mind, as well as 80 beds for the youth academy members.

A sports clinic and medical assessment centre are also part of the plan, with the training complex expected to employ between 70-100 people.
