PSG chairman Nasser Al Khelaifi the first Ligue 1 representative on PFSC

Paris Saint-Germain chairman and CEO Nasser Al Khelaifi has been appointed by the Executive Board of the European Club Association (ECA) to take a seat at UEFA's Professional Football Strategy Council (PFSC).

In a decision taken last week during the ECA's Executive Board meeting in Zurich, Switzerland, the Qatari will become a member of the body. His appointment is significant for French football because it is the first time a Ligue 1 club has been represented.

Al Khelaifi, 42, will take former AC Milan sporting director Umberto Gandini's seat at the PFSC and along with Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu, Arsenal CEO Ivan Gazidis and CSKA Moscow president Yevgeni Giner, he will be one of four club representatives of the 16-member assembly.

The PFSC consists of European football's main stakeholders, such as UEFA, clubs, professional leagues and players.
