Paris Saint-Germain's Hatem Ben Arfa out with shin splints in left leg

Hatem Ben Arfa has failed to make the Paris Saint-Germain squad for the fifth consecutive match across all competitions, but this time through injury, as coach Unai Emery's side prepare for their UEFA Champions League trip away to Ludogorets Razgrad.

Jese Rodriguez will also be missing when the French champions take to the pitch at Vasil Levski National Stadium in Sofia on Wednesday.

However, tempering the absences of Ben Arfa and Jese is the return of Marco Verratti to the group, Adrien Rabiot's ability to travel with his teammates and Serge Aurier's availability.

PSG have confirmed versatile attacker Ben Arfa is injured for the clash with Ludogorets, citing shin splints in the France international's left leg as the reason for his omission from Emery's travelling party.

The Ligue 1 giants have also clarified Jese's status, detailing that the Spanish left winger suffered a right knee problem after a knock in training.

Midfielder Verratti is back in the squad after the Italy international missed the past few matches with a calf issue, while fellow midfielder Rabiot has been passed fit to travel to Bulgaria after the France under-21 international needed tests on an injury from last Friday's 2-0 defeat away at Toulouse.

France international Blaise Matuidi is also included in the group, despite the midfielder having his nose fractured in Toulouse last week.

Right-back Aurier was in court in Paris on Monday and was handed a suspended two-month sentence for an alleged attack on a police officer. The Ivory Coast international is to appeal and PSG have backed the player while the affair remains unresolved.

Emery's 21-man squad is slightly bigger than usual, suggesting that the Basque tactician has one or two doubts -- possibly over the likes of Verratti, Matuidi and Rabiot.

However, there was still no room for Christopher Nkunku, who will instead be on UEFA Youth League duty, nor Hervin Ongenda.

Nkunku and Ongenda's fellow youth academy graduates, Jean-Kevin Augustin and Nanitamo Jonathan Ikone have both been selected, along with other homegrown stars Rabiot, Alphonse Areola, Presnel Kimpembe and Remy Descamps.
