Carlo Ancelotti has told RMC he felt the Paris Saint-Germain players were not as professional as they could have been upon his arrival at the club but is open to a return to the French capital one day.
Ancelotti, 57, signed a three-year contract as Pep Guardiola's successor at Bayern Munich in the summer, the latest stop in a coaching career that also included a one-and-a-half season stay at PSG.
The former Chelsea and Real Madrid boss admitted he was surprised by the carefree attitude of the squad to their work when he took over from Antoine Kombouare in December 2011.
"When I arrived, at the start, I think the mentality was not very, very professional," he said. "In a team, you can have a player that doesn't train as you would like. So you have to put in place a relationship through dialogue to make him work differently.
"At the top level, you have to ensure players train well, but also recover well and eat well. Especially at a club where you play every three days. You don't have time to train, rather you have time only to recover."
While Ancelotti's first half-season ended with PSG being pipped to the Ligue 1 crown by Montpellier, the Italian did steer the team to the title -- PSG's first since 1994 -- the following campaign before heading to Madrid.
Though he asked to leave the Parc des Princes, Ancelotti would consider returning to the French capital if given the opportunity.
"Why not? I was very happy in Paris. I have a very good memory of France, of Paris. When you're fired, there's perhaps a moment when you're not happy.
"But afterwards ... I have never had any rancour towards Paris. I didn't have problems, I had a very good experience in Paris.
"I wanted to leave, but I think if I had stayed, I would have extended my contract. [PSG president] Nasser [Al-Khelaifi] and I send each other messages, I have very good relations with the [deputy] sporting director Olivier Letang. I have maintained a good relationship with PSG."
