Former PSG sporting director Leonardo wants to take coaching role

Former AC Milan and Inter Milan boss Leonardo is set to end a three-year absence from football by taking up a coaching role.

Leonardo has not had a role in professional football since resigning as Paris Saint-Germain's sporting director in July 2013 after being suspended for nine months for pushing a referee. His ban was quashed by a French court in June 2014.

"I think that now I'm a coach with an administrative vision and a manager with a technical vision," he told Cadena SER.

"I'm free, and I think I'll soon return to football. I see myself more on the pitch, more as a coach. I think it will happen very soon."

Former Brazil international Leonardo, 47, is credited with orchestrating the transfers of stars such as Thiago Silva, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Edinson Cavani to PSG, for whom he once played.
