Paris Saint-Germain's Blaise Matuidi wants 'ultra' fans to be allowed back

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Blaise Matuidi has offered his support for the return of the French champions' banned 'ultra' fans.

A number of supporters had their tickets for last Friday's Ligue 1 game at Caen cancelled by PSG on the day of the match.

But France international Matuidi, speaking to the Paris Ultras Collective (CUP), said it was "important" that they were "allowed to come back."

"We are waiting for you," he said in a video released on You Tube by the CUP. "In any case, we loved the last match [at home to Arsenal in the Champions League, when many felt the atmosphere was better because of the presence of 'ultra' groups].

"I hope that you can return because it is true that without you, it is difficult at the Parc [des Princes]. We need you, we will be with you."

Coach Unai Emery expressed his support for a return of the 'ultras' when he spoke to reporters before the defeat at Monaco in August.

PSG have had long-standing problems with their 'ultra' factions and the debate over their potential return to Parc des Princes after years of exile has intensified as the club try to improve the matchday atmosphere.

Club officials are due to meet the CUP for talks about a potential return after supporters threatened a chanting boycott if they were not spoken to.

PSG were recently ordered to pay 15 of their own supporters almost €30,000 by the district court for the 16th arrondissement for cancelled match tickets.
