Paris Saint-Germain to meet with club's ultras over potential return

Paris Saint-Germain have avoided a chanting boycott from supporters at home matches after agreeing to meet with the club's ultra factions and their legal representatives.

The Paris Ultras' Collective (CUP) has confirmed that PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has agreed to meet with the group along with the Association de Defense et d'Assistance Juridique des Interets des Supporters (ADAJIS) to discuss a potential return to the Parc des Princes.

PSG have long suffered problems with their supporters, notably the estranged ultras whose ban from Les Parisiens' home predates the arrival of owners Qatar Sports Investments (QSI) in the French capital.

"We welcomed president Nasser Al-Khelaifi's willingness with relief," a CUP statement read. "Yet nothing changed and no formal discussions materialised.

"Worse, many supporters were illegally excluded continuously. This is why we asked you to take strike action and make Parc des Princes quiet for this Champions League match [1-1 draw against Arsenal].

"However, we will not need to pursue this difficult path because the PSG leaders have finally committed to meeting with CUP, as well as ADAJIS."

Recently, the Ligue 1 giants were ordered to pay €30,000 to fans for unlawful ticket cancellations and the ultras protested outside the Camp des Loges training ground, prompting coach Unai Emery to praise their support.

PSG are reaching out to the ultras in an effort to improve the atmosphere at the Parc des Princes, which has frequently been criticised over the past few years.
