David Luiz allays PSG's injury fears by returning to training

Paris Saint-Germain have been boosted by the news that the shoulder injury suffered by David Luiz in last Sunday's 3-0 home win over Metz does not look as bad as first feared.

The Brazilian defender left the pitch shortly before half-time at Parc des Princes last weekend to receive treatment on a right shoulder issue.

Luiz, 29, played on for the full 90 minutes but left the stadium with a heavily strapped shoulder because of the problem.

On his way through the postmatch mixed zone, the former Chelsea and Benfica player told journalists that it was a "nerve issue" and "nothing serious."

Luiz and his PSG teammates were given the Monday to rest and recover after the Metz win and the group -- including recent Olympic gold medal winner Marquinhos -- returned to training on Tuesday.

In a picture published by the French champions on their Instagram page, Luiz appears to be fine and has both arms on the shoulders of teammates Serge Aurier and Layvin Kurzawa.

Although the capital club have not commented officially on Luiz's injury yet, it appears as if the man from Diadema, Sao Paulo, will be fine.

PSG travel to Monaco on Sunday for a crunch clash with Leonardo Jardim's men, and with captain Thiago Silva's fitness still uncertain, Luiz is needed by coach Unai Emery -- although Marquinhos' return gives the Spaniard an extra central defensive option.
