Marquinhos to consider Paris Saint-Germain future at end of season

Paris Saint-Germain defender Marquinhos has said he will consider his position at the club at the end of the season.

Marquinhos, 21, has been the main beneficiary of Serge Aurier's suspension, stepping up to replace the Ivorian at right-back in both legs of the Champions League round-of-16 win over Chelsea.

The Brazilian has also featured 21 times in PSG's Ligue 1-winning campaign but is behind compatriots Thiago Silva and David Luiz in the battle for a starting place at centre-back, his preferred position.

In September, former PSG defender Alex said Marquinhos may need to leave in order to fulfil his potential.

And speaking to Le Parisien this week, Marquinhos said he would have to reassess the situation in the summer.

"Everyone knows that you need to have a period of reflection at the end of the season," he said.

"We will talk about the objectives of the club and my own personal objectives. At the moment, I'm trying to be professional.

"I put myself at the disposal of the club all the time at centre-back, at right-back or even in midfield. I'm trying to work to earn my place and to get game time."
