Laurent Blanc praises PSG's focus after comfortable win over Angers

Laurent Blanc praised the focus of his Paris Saint-Germain side after the runaway Ligue 1 leaders demolished third-placed Angers 5-1 at Parc des Princes.

Argentina forward Angel Di Maria scored twice as PSG claimed a record-equalling 11th successive victory in all competitions, which saw Blanc's side open up their lead to an astonishing 24 points.

PSG never looked back once Zlatan Ibrahimovic had opened the scoring on 32 minutes, and were 2-0 ahead before half-time through Brazil forward Lucas Moura, who had replaced Edinson Cavani in the starting XI.

Dutch defender Gregory van der Wiel added a third early into the second half, before Pierrick Capelle pulled one back for Angers.

Di Maria, though, made sure of a commanding victory with a quick-fire double just after the hour, the first of which was a stunning 25-yard volley.

PSG face Toulouse in the semifinals of the Coupe de la Ligue next week as they bid to remain alive in both domestic cup competitions, and are set to face Chelsea on February 16 in the first leg of their Champions League tie.

Blanc feels his squad are showing the needed determination to carry their superb form right through to the end of the campaign.

"The team kept the game serious in all sections. We took great pleasure to win this game," Blanc said in his postmatch news conference.

"I saw a beautiful second half, the first was a little more delicate against a very well-organised Angers team.

"We had to loosen them up and to get the first goal was fundamental, once we led, then things were a little easier, but the team has maintained their seriousness and rigour."

Angers coach Stephane Moulin accepted his team, who have defied the critics since their promotion to challenge for the European places, had no answer to PSG's superiority.

"They have real elegance. This is a team that has the objective of maintaining their title and also to win the Champions League," he said.

"We came up against players who put their Champions League kit on tonight, and we did not have the same suit."
